johnstonSharon Johnston and Mark Lee are the founding partners of the architecture firm Johnston Marklee. They have taught at major universities including the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Princeton University, the University of California, Los Angeles, the Technical University of Berlin, and ETH Zurich. They have held the Cullinan Chair at Rice University and the Frank Gehry Chair at the University of Toronto.

Sharon Johnston, FAIA

Employing her wide-ranging knowledge of diverse architectural practices, Sharon Johnston builds and directs distinguished collaborative teams tailored to each specific project. Working with artists, fabricators, and consulting engineers Sharon directs teams to customize and integrate formal, material, and component- building systems into distinctive architectural solutions. 

Sharon is a graduate of Stanford University where she earned a B.A. in History & Art History. She earned her architectural degree at Harvard Design School (GSD), and she currently serves on the board of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Mark Lee

Mark Lee shapes Johnston Marklee's collaborations with advanced research teams composed of innovative thinkers and designers from professional and academic disciplines. With deep knowledge of both architectural history and contemporary discourse and construction practices, Mark directs design teams through critical research while striving for efficiency and precision in production. 

Mark has written and lectured widely on his research regarding culture specific landscapes and new strategies in material form and technology. Mr. Lee has been invited as a visiting critic at numerous institutions around the world, including Harvard University, Princeton University, Cornell University, University of Michigan, UCLA, UIC, T.U. Berlin, ETH Zurich, Rice University, and SCI-Arc.

Mark is a graduate of the University of Southern California where he earned a B.A. in Architecture. He earned his second architectural degree [M. Arch II] at the Harvard DesignSchool (GSD). He sits on the advisory board of Depart Foundation.
